Jointly led by Article 109, Building Blocks for Peace, Centre for Global South Initiatives in Development, Nigeria Network for NGOs, Oxfam International and SDGs Kenya Forum in partnership with C4UN, the Africa Futures Forum sought to bring people’s voices from across the continent into global discussions on the future of the UN. Engaging more than 400 civil society organisations from 29 African and 25 non-African countries, the 2026 edition was organised in two parts – an Expert Briefing followed by structured consultations – and it sought to:

  1. Assess the overall implementation of the Pact for the Future at global and regional levels and progress on the UN80 Initiative from a civil society perspective
  2. Identify key political, financial, institutional, and structural challenges hindering effective implementation of the Pact
  3. Develop concrete strategies and action plans to meaningfully engage, monitor, and strengthen implementation of the Pact for the Future and UN80 process
  4. Gather regional perspectives on the vision, purpose and direction for ongoing reforms at the UN and the future of multilateralism
