Held during the NGO Forum at CSW70, this parallel event brought together civil society leaders, youth representatives, local governments, and UN stakeholders to reflect on the future of global governance at a critical moment for multilateralism.
Co-convened by the Coalition for the UN We Need (C4UN), the Cities for CEDAW History and Futures Project, and partners, the discussion explored how ongoing reform processes, including CSW revitalization, the UN80 Initiative, and the Pact for the Future, can strengthen access to justice, reinforce the UN’s gender equality architecture, and promote more inclusive and accountable systems.
Speakers highlighted both the urgency of current global challenges and the resilience of feminist multilateralism, emphasizing the importance of collective action, youth leadership, and grassroots participation. A central message emerged that meaningful reform must go beyond procedural changes to ensure real impact in the lives of women and girls.
The event underscored the need for stronger accountability, inclusive decision making, and sustained collaboration across sectors to advance gender equality and justice at all levels.
