Description | The ImPACT Coalition aims to contribute to the global dialogue on reforming the International Financial Architecture and the agenda of Financing for Development. The coalition wants to align efforts among civil society, stakeholders, the United Nations, and Member States to address global financing needs and development and climate action. Key areas of focus include expanding multilateral financing, rethinking development measurement, addressing sovereign debt crises, reforming governance of international financial institutions, and promoting international tax cooperation. These efforts are aimed at mobilising substantial resources to eradicate poverty, ensure collective well-being, and protect the environment, thereby advancing a sustainable and equitable future for all. |

Upcoming Events | Bridging the Gap: Mobilizing Inclusive Financing for the Sustainable Development Agenda Thu Feb 13 2025, 3:00pm – 4:15pm UN Headquarters in New York, CR-12 The sponsor of this side event is the United Nations Research Institute for Social Development (UNRISD). It will be in-person with UNDESA, Qatar, Portugal and UNRISD. The world desperately needs responsible leadership and collective action. Club de Madrid (CdM) and the United Nations Research Institute for Social Development (UNRISD) have been a leading advocate for the Second World Summit for Social Development (SWSSD) in 2025, emphasizing the interconnected dimensions of social, environmental, and economic progress while prioritizing equity and human rights. Recognizing the Summit as a pivotal opportunity to address persistent inequalities and systemic challenges, CdM and UNRISD have championed rethinking social development for both people and the planet. As a staunch supporter of the UN Secretary-General’s Our Common Agenda report, CdM contributed substantive recommendations during its consultation phase and has strategically collaborated with the G20 presidencies of India, Brazil, and South Africa, as well as the UN, to position social development at the center of global discussions. With over 100 democratic former Heads of State and Government, CdM’s Members bring unparalleled expertise and networks to advocate for transformative policies, demonstrating a firm commitment to shaping the Summit’s agenda and outcomes. In 2023, CdM dedicated its twenty-second Annual Policy Dialogue 2023 (APD 2023): Rethinking Social Development for People and Planet to support the advancing of urgent economic, ecological, political, and social reforms. One of the main themes that the APD 2023 addressed, in partnership with the United Nations Research Institute for Social Development (UNRISD), was the System Change for Economic Transformation. Under this topic, we explored transformative social and economic policies conducive to a transition toward sustainable development that is socially just and anchored in democratic and participatory processes. In this sense, CdM and UNRISD aim to seize this moment and help current leaders set the world on a new course that will lead us to an equitable, secure, and sustainable system of global cooperation facilitated by renewed, revitalized multilateral institutions and resilient enough to counter and withstand future existential threats. Objective This side-event aligns with the priority theme of the 63rd Session of the Commission for Social Development (CSocD63) by addressing structural inequalities and advancing solidarity, social inclusion, and cohesion to achieve the commitments of the Copenhagen Declaration and the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development. In alignment with Club de Madrid’s Annual Policy Dialogue, “Driving Sustainable Futures for All”, the event seeks to build synergies between the agendas of the FfD 4 and the SWSSD. It will explore pathways to ensure that the anticipated commitments of FfD 4 effectively translate into policies and financial resources needed to addressing the pressing needs of countries to invest in social development. |
